World of Warcraft
When it comes to the MMORPG scene, there is none other like World Of Warcraft. It is easy to see how it has become the most popular MMORPG, with the depth of the history of the different characters and species that are played with, along with the fantastic history of the game world itself, to the engrossing and intense PvP and PvE action, to the individual quests and instances (dungeons). Not to mention the real world economic system of supply and demand that makes things even more captivating. Here, we are going to cover some of the basic characters and strategies that can help players new to the game, or to a new character type.
One of the biggest questions that is asked in World of Warcraft is how do I make money?” While there are entire guides dedicated to answering this question, there are basics that can see you through quite well. For starters, doing quests is a must. Looting everything you can get your hands on and selling it to NPC’s that will take it, is a must. And being willing to observe the market on the auction houses and make use of your professions during your earlier levels will allow you to make big money by simply providing resources to veteran players that would rather pay for resources than have to spend the time gathering them on their own.
As for character choices, along with classes, there is a lot to consider. Primarily, while the different races in World of Warcraft have little perks individual to each, we’ll take a look at the different classes and how to choose what you want to play. Seeing as how all MMO’s are designed to be played cooperatively with other players, usually in groups, all classes have strengths that cover others weaknesses, and weaknesses that are covered by other classes. And, it all boils down to how you want to play.
If you want to hack and slash your foes and take the majority of the damage for the group, then you’ll want to look at Paladins and Warriors or Druids. In terms of dealing lots of damage you can’t beat Rouges or Mages, while Hunters and Warlocks are quite good at it as well. As for buffing other players in the group, Shamans are designed for it, while a Paladin that focuses on buffs is just as good, and Druids are next in line. In terms of healing everyone in the group, Priests are unmatched, while Druids are very excellent at it as well.
It doesn’t matter what style of play you prefer, whether you’re just testing out new classes, or starting for the first time ever in World of Warcraft. Just remember that you have to focus on what that class is good at, or you’ll end up with a character that is a “jack of all trades, master of none.” That kind of character is absolutely useless in a group, as your character will not be able to properly cover the weaknesses of the other players chosen classes, and a group is only as strong as its weakest link.
