Help with my Floyd Rose Trem stringing service system?
I have a Washburn WG228 guitar. It has a Floyd Rose. I tried stringing service and it ended in disaster. The bridge raised up or away from the body and I do not know what to do. I did not know what the old doctrine of strings so I just made, I have lying around. Can the change in string gauge the cause? If so HELP ME!. Oh, and what string gauge is ideal for this guitar?
The string gauge is entirely on your personal preferences, but a Floyd Rose meters will be adjusted to different color of the tension. If your bridge is pulled forward / Away from the body, it means that the tension of the strings you are not in use keep the bridge in its place. This does not mean you used the wrong strings so you need your choice to suit the bridge a little tweak. The way to do this is to move the spring claw in the tremolo cavity at the back of the guitar. The claw is the piece of metal that holds the feathers, and still is, held the body with two long screws. If you tighten these screws, you increase the "pull" or tension of the strings, and conversely, lighter gauge strings = less voltage, so that means that you cling to the need to increase the screws and spring tension, to balance the tension. Do not go crazy tightening the screws, just try them one full turn, and then tune the guitar to see how you're doing. It takes a little during the trial and error experimentation, but you will soon hang the adjustment in the way it is right for you. Also remember not to tighten Diving so much that the bridge ends to the rear and / or hitting the wood of the guitar. It should really "float" in perfect balance, or you will be an evil clunking noise get when you made the Floyd, as the bridge block use meets the body of the guitar, when it returns to its resting position. That is, if you not with the Floyd, you'd more aware of the bridge was so, so it still stays and acts like a fixed bridge. Sunflower tugging.
