Mario Bros.
Mario Bros. are some of the best known characters throughout the world. The Mario brothers games are the most played games on any Game System in the world. With over twenty versions of the game, how could it not be so popular? The game started its life as an arcade game in 1983, featuring two Italian American brothers who were plumbers, flushing New York City of strange monsters that had moved into the sewers. The game follows these two brothers as they destroy the monsters in the sewers, and then throughout these monster’s own world in an alternative dimension.
The very first version of Mario Bros. was a lot different than it has expanded into today. In the original game, players were only allowed to run and jump. You could not jump on the enemy to kill them like you can now. In the original set up of Mario Bros., there were three platforms that you ran along to get from one end to the other. When an enemy was directly above you, you could hit the block they were standing on and it would send them tumbling.
The POW button in the ground level was a very important part of the game. By hitting this button repeatedly, you were able to startle all of your enemies at once and make them all fall down into the sewer. Gamer beware, more creatures will come to attack you once these ones have fallen away. You can only use the POW button, so it is imperative to use it at the most important time, when you have several creatures squirming about. If you are using the POW button, make sure that you hit the button enough times so that it is completely gone. If you do not, it will only stun the creatures which will make them angry and their speed will increase, making it harder to defeat them.
Each level of the game has a multitude of characters, such as side steppers, ghosts, caterpillars, crabs, shell creepers and several others. They always start out with the easiest of the creatures and the more of them that you kill the worse the creatures become. As long as you have a good game plan, you will succeed at this fun game.
